How to Adjust the Chronograph Second Hand on a Miyota OS20 Movement

Dec 26, 2025

If your chronograph second hand isn’t snapping back to 12 like it should, don’t worry — this is a very common issue, and it’s easy to fix.

In this guide, I’ll walk you through how to re-center the chronograph second hand on a Miyota OS20 movement, the same movement used in the LUCA BR-1 and CH-1 chronographs. No tools required, and it only takes about a minute.

Why Is My Chronograph Second Hand Off Center?

There are a few common reasons your chronograph second hand might not return perfectly to 12:

  • The crown was pulled out to the time-setting position and one of the pushers was accidentally pressed

  • The battery died while the chronograph was running

  • Normal handling caused the chronograph to fall slightly out of alignment

When this happens, the chronograph will still function — but it won’t reset cleanly to the top marker.

The good news? You can fix this yourself.

Watches This Adjustment Works On

This method applies to Miyota chronograph movements, specifically:

  • Miyota OS20

  • LUCA BR-1 Chronograph

  • LUCA CH-1 Chronograph

It may also work on other Miyota chronographs, though the pushers may control different hands depending on the movement.

Step-by-Step: How to Adjust the Chronograph Second Hand

1. Pull the Crown to the Second Position

Pull the crown all the way out, just like you’re setting the time.

2. Use the Top Pusher

With the crown still out:

  • Press the top chronograph pusher to move the second hand

  • A short press advances it one step

  • A long press advances it faster

Move the second hand until it’s perfectly aligned at 12 o’clock.

3. Push the Crown Back In

Once the second hand is centered, push the crown back in fully.

Test the Adjustment

Now test the chronograph:

  • Press the top pusher to start

  • Press it again to stop

  • Press the bottom pusher to reset

If everything was done correctly, the second hand should snap cleanly back to 12.

That’s it — your chronograph is back in alignment.
