How to Remove or Replace Watch Bracelet Links (No Jeweler Required)

Jan 07, 2026

One of the best things about a Luca watch is how easy it is to make it fit you perfectly. Whether your bracelet feels a little too loose or too snug, you don’t need to take it to a jewelry store—or buy expensive specialty tools.

In this guide, I’ll walk you through how to remove or replace links in a metal watch bracelet, using the same simple method shown in our video. This works for most modern watch bracelets, and it works especially well with Luca watch bracelets.

Why Luca Watch Bracelets Are Easy to Adjust

All Luca watches use a quick-change system, which means:

  • You can remove the entire bracelet from the watch without tools

  • You can swap between leather, rubber, or metal bands in seconds

  • Metal bracelets are designed with easy-to-remove pins, so sizing is simple

If you purchased a Luca watch with a bracelet—or even just a bracelet on its own—we include the link removal tool at no extra charge. If you ever need extra pins, just reach out to us and we’ll take care of you.

What Tool Do You Need?

You only need one basic pin-removal tool.
No hammer. No jeweler’s bench. No stress.

This is the same tool we include with Luca bracelets, and it’s designed to safely push pins in and out without damaging the bracelet.

Step 1: Find the Direction Arrows

Flip the bracelet over and look closely at the inside of the links. You’ll see small arrows engraved into the metal.

These arrows show you which direction the pin needs to be pushed out.

Why this matters:

  • One end of the pin is smooth and round

  • The other end is split (like a tiny fork)

  • The split end creates friction to hold the pin securely in place

Always push the pin in the direction of the arrow.

Step 2: Push the Pin Out

  1. Place the bracelet into the tool

  2. Line up the pin with the tool’s tip

  3. Slowly turn the tool clockwise

You don’t need much pressure. When the pin releases, you’ll feel a small “pop”—that’s exactly what you want.

Once loose, turn the tool back counterclockwise and gently pull the pin the rest of the way out by hand.

Step 3: Removing or Replacing Links

Once the pin is out, you can:

  • Remove links to make the bracelet shorter

  • Reinsert links to make it longer

Keep track of your pins and links as you go.

Step 4: Reinstalling the Pin (3 Simple Steps)

Putting the pin back in is easy if you follow this order:

1. Start the Pin

Lightly tap the pin into the first hole—just enough to get it started.

2. Insert the Link

Line up the link and give it a gentle tap to seat the pin further.

⚠️ If you need to hit it hard, stop. The holes aren’t lined up and you could bend the pin.

3. Align at a 90° Angle

This is the trickiest part:

  • Rotate the bracelet so it forms a 90° angle

  • Line up the holes visually

  • Give the pin a small tap

That final tap is usually all it takes to seat the pin fully and securely.

Final Check

Once the pin is in:

  • Wiggle the link slightly

  • Make sure everything moves freely

  • Confirm the pin is flush and secure

That’s it. Wash, rinse, repeat until the bracelet fits just right.
